BGB man injured in gunfight with Myanmar separatists in Bandarban

A Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) member was injured in a gunfight with an insurgent group of Myanmar at Baramadak in Thanchi upazila of Bandarban district on Wednesday morning.

The injured BGB man was identified as Nayek Jakir Hossain of Barakadam BOP. He has been rescued from the spot.

The firing ensued when activists of the separatists outfit attacked a BGB patrol. 

Army officials said suspected activists of a separatist party opened fire to the BGB members deployed in Modok BOP area of the upazila at about 9:30am.

The gun battle was continuing till 12:pm. They keep firing from deep forest.

Additional BGB and army troops are being sent by helicopter in the area to conduct a coordinated operation against the terrorists, our correspondence confirmed the matter.
