Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hassan Papon said that they have unanimously decided to wait for some more days to take the final decision on the appointment of their head coach for the national team in the aspect of getting some new candidates.

Last two days some more coaches from different countries after Richard Pybus and Phil Simmons showed their earnest interests to become the head coach of the Bangladesh cricket team.

“Today we got two names of the candidates, who showed their interests are also good coaches though they’re not high-profile coaches. We could bring them for some cases though it’s not for head coach,” said Nazmul Hassan.

“We also received two bio-data yesterday who also showed their interests. Today we updated all those. Those, who will not be available we dropped them from the discussion. In some case, we could not match with their time or condition,” Papon told after coming out from the board of directors meeting yesterday.

The BCB president said that they have updated and made another short-list of the candidates so that they could easily be picked the best and quality head coach for the team who could fill the shoes of the Chandika Hathurusingha.

“Already we’ve proposed a short-list to the board. The coaches we’ve contracted in so many days and what the feedback we received so far from them. We discussed over these matter in the meeting,” said BCB president.

“You all know that Richard Pybus already met with us. Today Phil Simmons came and delivered his presentation what our board directors witnessed. Along with that, those, who sent letters to us, we are also seeing those. At the final stage, we’ve made another short list. For this, we needed some more days,” Papon also said.

“We’ve decided that as the camp for the next series will start towards 27 December. We’ve some more times ahead of us. So, we don’t take our final decision for the nonce. We could be taken a final decision within the next few days after talking with the rest of the candidates,” he added.

He said that they will handle the next series together if they could not manage to appoint any quality coach prior to the upcoming series.

“If we can not finalise any coach before the start of the series or if we finalise anyone but he could not come or join later of the series, then what will be happened we also discussed it in the meeting,” the BCB boss said.

“After consulting with coaching staffs and our captains, we’ve decided we can nominate one from the board and distribute responsibility among captain along with assistant coach Richard Halsall and bowling consultant Sunil Joshi. Actually we all handle together this series. There is no need to be made head coach,” he said.

Even we could give the responsibility to someone for sometimes so that he could play role in the absence of the head coach. But the main duty will be played by our captain. We will give them specific responsibility,” he added.

Along with that, the chairman and vice-chairman of the different committee has been allocated among the board directors. BCB director Naimur Rahman Durjoy has been made the chairman of the newly-revived High Performance (HP) programme in place of Mahbubul Anam. Kazi Enam Ahmed was given the responsibility of the Cricket Committee of the Dhaka Metropolitan (CCDM), Age-Group Tournament Committee to Tanjil Ahmed Chowdhury, Women’s wing to Shafiul Alam Chowdhury Nadel.

Mahbubul Anam has been given the new responsibility of the Ground Committee, Tender and Purchase Committee to advocate Anwarul Islam, while Tournament Committee to Gazi Golam Murtaza and Medical committee to Syed Ashfiqul Islam Titu.
