RAB in a drive seized a huge amount of unauthorized drugs from a pharmaceutical factory of the city on Tuesday night.

The mobile court also fined the factory TK three lakh.  Major Rakibuzaman of RAB-8 briefed the media at a press conference yesterday.

He said acting on a tip off, a team of RAB-8 raided the Barisal Indo-Bangla Pharma in Nathullabad area of the city on Tuesday night.

During the raid they seized huge number of unauthorised drugs named Indofenac 50mg tablet under Dyclofenac group, Neuostin R-150, Renitidin R 150, Indiprox-500, Protobit-20, Rebofrabin, Indomol, Setrol and Carton extra.

Major Rakibuzaman said “Production and marketing of these drugs have already been suspended since July 1 in 2015”.

They handed over the seized drugs to the Barisal drugs authorities for taking necessary legal action in this regards. Later, the seized drugs were destroyed.

After receiving the unauthorised drugs, Tanvir Ahmed, district officer of Barisal drugs authorities, said they did not receive any letter about producing and marketing of those drugs from higher authorities till filing the report.

He also said that they received a letter from the RAB-8 and started work under legal frame for taking action.  After visiting the spot, Ripon Biswas, executive magistrate, fined the company Tk 3 lakh and later destroyed the drugs.

Md Anwarul Haque Sabbir, managing director of Barisal Indo-Bangla Pharma, claimed that they have sufficient papers in support of these drugs.

RAB-8 sources said a case in this regards under preparation till filling the report.
