Youth held for allegedly raping a girl in Sirajganj

Police on Wednesday arrested a youth for allegedly raping a schoolgirl at Olidaho village of Ullapara upazila in the district.

The arrestee was identified as Sultan Mahmud Akash, 19, son of Bahadur Ali of the village.

Mofijul Islam, sub-inspector of Salanga Police Station, said Akash raped a schoolgirl of the village on Tuesday night while the girl was alone at home. 

Akash managed to flee the scene when the neighbours came forward to rescue the girl after hearing her screaming.

Later the victim’s father filed a rape case with Salanga Police Station.

Following the case police arrested Akash, SI added. unb
