Bangladesh one-day captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza on Wednesday said that the players are not concerned about the head coach of the Bangladesh team.

Mashrafe also said that they are capable of making their adjustment with the head coach whoever comes here in the post.

“Since my 17-year-long cricket career I didn’t see that the board appointed a coach discussing with the players. So I don’t think that is there a need for them to discuss with us,” said Mashrafe Bin Mortaza.

“Our responsibility is to perform in the ground as per the game plan whoever the coach is. It does not matter much for us who are brought by the board,” Mashrafe Bin Mortaza told media while he was speaking as a special guest at an anti-drug campaign in the capital yesterday.

Law Minister Barrister Anisul Haq was present as the chief guest in the campaign, organized by Prottoy Medical Clinic Limited. Besides them, chief consultant of  Department of Narcotics Control. Dr. Syed Imamul Hossain and Prottoy Medical Clinic Limited chairman Nazmul Haque among others also present.

The abrupt resignation of the Bangladesh head coach rocked the country’s sports arena. But it being told from the board that they have received a letter from the head coach, Chandika Hathurusingha but that was not a formal resignation letter. They are communicating with him and will soon come here in Dhaka.

The one-day captain said that the question over the head coach will not be raised any more if the issue is settled by discussion.

“I earlier told that nothing is confirmed about the resignation of Hathurusingha,” he said. “But if he is stayed discussing the matter with the board, the query will then be finished,” he also said.

And if he does not stay in Bangladesh, the board will also think about it and decide who will come in Hathurusingha’s post for the next time,” he added.

Mashrafe, dubbed Narail Express, said that they have no way to go against the board’s decision as they play under the board.

“I don’t clearly know it yet that it will be a local coach. If it is true, we will then play in that vein. Actually we are under the BCB and have to accept what they will decide,” the 32-year-old bowler said.

“We have earlier local coach Sarwar Imran. We have played under him. At one time, Sujon bhai was also our coach. Players will be able to adjust whoever is our coach for the next time,” he viewed.

He said that the players have to mentally ready to make their adjustment with the new coach what he has seen since 17 years if Hathurusingha is reluctant to continue his job in Bangladesh.

“It is better to make adjustment as early as possible when a change is happened. Obviously, we have been playing under Hathurusingha. It is true that we have grabbed his plans, rules how he decorates a team. Now if he does not stay with us and if any new coach arrives, in that case, we should be accepted him and try to adjust with him as early as possible,” he thought.

On the recent board’s decision of limiting players’ participation in foreign league, the current most senior player of the Bangladesh team said that there is opportunity for discussion and settle the matter as the decision has not been finalised yet.

“Only Shakib plays more in overseas leagues. Along with Shakib, Mustafiz, (Tamim and Mahmudullah) plays in these leagues. So, I think it’s a big issue though the decision is yet to confirm,” he said.

“If the decision is finalized, I don’t think, it’ll be a big problem because everybody wants to play for his own country so the decision will not be a problem for the players,” he added.

“All the players are in busy in BPL fray. We didn’t meet with all yet. Along with that, there is much room for discussion the matter. I think, it will be cleared after talking with the board.”
