Five arrested for JU, RU
admission test forgery

Five aspirants who sat for admission tests of Jahangirnagar and Rajshahi universities were detained for forgery at different exam centres.

Our Jahangirnagar University correspondent reports: The authorities of Jahangirnagar University (JU) yesterday caught four admission seekers on charge of fraud during the viva-voce of admission test under 2017-18 academic sessions.

The detainees are identified as Yeasin Arafat of Mymensing, Parvez Ahmed of Gazipur, Rakib Hossain of Munsiganj and Abu Raihan of Natore district.

Among them, Yeasin secured 5th position, Parvez 155th, Rakib 58th and Abu 13th in the Arts and Humanities Faculty under C unit.

Their cheating was revealed when the interviewers crosschecked the handwritings of the examinees with their written exam papers.

Yeasin and Abu Raihan did not confess about the forgery.   JU Proctor Professor Tapan Kumar Saha said, “We handed them over to Ashulia Police Station after the primary interrogation.” A case was filed with the Ashulia Police Station in this connection.

Earlier on Sunday and Monday, another nine fake examinees were held on same charge. On the other hand, the authorities of Rajshahi University (RU) caught a fake admission aspirant yesterday as he allegedly cheated in the first year honours admission test under 2017-2018 academic years, reports our RU Correspondent.

The detainee Khalilur Rhaman, hailed from Kotwali upzila of Jessore district, stood 16nd from group-1 in the admission test under law faculty.

“His hand writing at viva voce examination did not match with the copies of written test. He failed to solve single question correctly. On suspicion, we sent him to the proctor’s office”, said Professor Abu Naset Md Wahiduzzaman, dean of the faculty.

RU proctor Professor Mujibul Haque said that they handed over the student to the police after primary investigation.

The first year admission test was held at RU on October 22-26 while the test under law faculty held on October 23.

RU Proctor Prof Dr Luthfor Rahman admitted the fact and said they handed over the detainee to police.
