7th Dhaka Lit Fest begins Nov 16

The 7th Dhaka Literary Festival (DLF) will begin on the premises of Bangla Academy in the capital on November 16, reports BSS.

The Cultural Affairs Ministry, Bangla Academy and Jatrik Production Limited (JPL) are organizing the three-day literary event that will continue till November 18, JPL Director and Producer Sadaf Saj told BSS yesterday.

A total of 31 countries, including Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, Canada, Singapore, the USA, the UK, Australia, Switzerland, South Africa, China and Bhutan, will take part in the event.

About 320 internationally reputed writers, poets, artists and researchers, including 70 from 30 countries and 250 from host Bangladesh, will join the DLF, he said.

Bangladesh Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor and Syrian popular Arabic poet Adonis will inaugurate the festival, Sadaf added.

The festival will be featured with more than hundred sessions that will include seminars, discussions and view exchange meetings on literature in different languages, said the JPL director.

Bangla Academy Director Dr AKM Mujahidul Islam said preparatory works for holding the festival are progressing. Two committees -- festival committee and security affairs committee - have been formed to make the festival a success, he added. bss
