Like the previous years, Dhaka International Folk Fest will be a gathering of myriad of Bangladeshi and International folk artistes on a single platform this year also. The curtain will rise on the third edition of the biggest folk music festival of the subcontinent on November 9.  

The festival will take place from November 9 to 11 at the same previous venue, Bangladesh Army Stadium in the capital, which will be running everyday from 6pm to 1:30 midnight. This colossal festival has jointly been organised by Sun Communications Limited and Maasranga Television for the consecutive third year. 

To make the formal announcement of this year’s festival, a press conference was arranged at the Westin Hotel in the capital yesterday. Managing Director of Sun Communications Anjan Chowdhury, CEO and Managing Director of Dhaka Bank Limited Syed Mahbubur Rahman, Director of Ispahani Group Emaad Ispahani, Managing Director and CEO of Green Delta Insurance Company Ltd Farzana Chowdhury were present, among others.

A total of 140 folk musicians from across the world will perform at the festival this year. Among the local performers, Shahjahan Munshi, Arif Dewan, Fakir Shahabuddin, Shahnaz Beli, Shah Alam Sarkar, Aleya Begum, Baula and Bauliana will perform at the three-day event. Artistes from India are Nooran Sisters, Papon and Basudeb Das Baul. Besides, Grammy Winner Tinariwen from Mali, Mekaal Hasan band from Pakistan, Kutumba from Nepal, Rastak from Iran, Mauricio Tizumba & Sextet from Brazil and Tenzin Choegyal from Tibet will also perform during the festival.

Anyone can enjoy the event for free through online registration. For online registration, audience needs to register online at www.dhakainternationalfolkfest.com, which will start from November 1 and continue till November 5. After successful registration, the entry pass will be emailed to the sender. When entering the venue, everybody must bring the photo ID used for the registration process and a printed copy of the entry pass. The three-day event will have three separate Entry Passes for each day. Audiences are requested to bring the correct Entry Pass along with them for each consecutive day to gain access to the event.

 

The audiences, who will be coming to the festival, cannot enter the venue with any type of bags, food and drinks. There will be no parking facilities for the private cars at the festival venue. No one can enter into the venue after 10pm. Children less than 10 years will not be allowed at the venue. One can register through OTP verification by using one mobile number.
