Three insightful films to be screened today

Three insightful films by prominent filmmakers like Azizur Rahman, Tareque Masud-Catherine Masud and Tauquir Ahmed  will be screened today at the National Art Plaza of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in the capital. The films will be screened as a part of the ongoing 16-day ‘Bangladesh Film Festival 2017’.

Azizur Rahman’s film ‘Chhutir Ghonta’ will be screened today at 3pm, while Tareque Masud and Catherine Masud’s drama film ‘Ontorjatra’ will be screened at 5:15pm and Tauquir Ahmed’s film ‘Oggatonama’ will be screened at 7:30pm at the same venue of BSA and as well as 63 Districts Shilpakala Academy across the country.

Written and directed by veteran filmmaker Azizur Rahman, ‘Chhutir Ghonta’ is a classic Bengali film. The film is based on an intriguing true story of a schoolboy. The boy named Khokon is the main character. He gets trapped in the school washroom and the school is mistakenly closed by the caretaker the day before the vacation started. The story of the film moves forward from this point. The cast of the film includes Razzak, Sujata, Suman, Khan Ataur Rahman, Shabana, ATM Shamsuzzaman and others.

On the other hand, ‘Ontorjatra’is a film about dislocation and finding identity in a diasporic world. A mother and her son return to their home after 15 years from abroad and try to retrace their roots. Beginning with the death of the father of the family, the film proceeds with the central characters seeking a link to their lives. The film stars Sara Zaker, Jayanta Chattopadhyay and others.

Besides, produced by Impress Telefilm, ‘Oggatonama’ is a drama film directed by Tauquir Ahmed. The film’s story revolves around a coffin. The coffin is of an expatriate worker with manipulated identity. The story turns when another person's corpse is found inside. The cast of the film includes Shahiduzzaman Selim, Mosharraf Karim, Fazlur Rahman Babu, Abul Hayat and others.
