87th anniv of Tagore’s visit to Russia celebrated

On the occasion of the 87th anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore's visit to Russia, Russian Centre of Science & Culture in Dhaka (RCSC), in cooperation with Bangladeshi-Russian Friendship Society, Muktijuddho Academy, Bangladesh Academy of Fine Arts (BAFA) and Kanthashilon, organised an event at RCSC on Sunday.

The main purpose of the event was to attract the attention of Bangladeshi participants and, above all, the younger generation, to the literary heritage of Tagore and his role in establishing and developing cultural ties between the peoples of two countries.

The programme was attended by secretary general of Friendship Society Professor Md Shahidulla Sikder, president of Muktijuddho Academy of Bangladesh, writer-historian Abul Kalam Azad, director of Bangladesh Academy of Fine Arts Monjour Morshid Jewel and others.

A full-fledged concert programme with the participation of youth dance and music groups of the Bangladesh Academy of Fine Arts made a great impression on the audience. An interesting literary and musical composition based on the works of Rabindranath Tagore was performed by a group of reciters from ‘Kanthashilon’ under the direction of Zahid Reza Noor.

After the completion of the cultural part of the programme, the participants of the children's dance group of Bangladesh Academy of Fine Arts and the reciters of Kanthashilon were awarded with certificates and flowers from the Russian Centre of Science & Culture in Dhaka.

The programme turned out to be meaningful with a special interest the audience received trainee artistes from the Bangladesh Academy of Fine Arts.
