Paneer Hariyali Tikka Recipe

Paneer Hariyali Tikka is a North Indian recipe made using paneer (cottage cheese), coriander leaves, mint leaves and a bit of all purpose flour. This delightful tikka is not just a treat to the eyes but is also healthy and full of interesting flavours. An ideal dish to be served in parties or when you have invited friends for a drink, making this dish can actually be fun as your guests can join in while grilling the tikkas. Since it is ideal to marinate the tikkas overnight, you don't have much to do on the day you have guests at home, except grilling them! Paneer Hariyali Tikka is loved by kids as it is not very spicy and it is a smart way of sneaking greens into their food. So, pack them in their lunch boxes or carry these yummy tikkas to work. You can also make delectable Kathi Kebab Rolls out of them.

Ingredients of Paneer Hariyali Tikka

250 gm paneer
3 teaspoon refined oil
1 teaspoon garlic paste
2 tablespoon all purpose flour
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon sendha namak
1 cup mint leaves
2 green chilli
1 teaspoon ginger paste
2 tablespoon yoghurt (curd)
1 teaspoon chaat masala
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 cup coriander leaves

How to make Paneer Hariyali Tikka

Step 1
Grind coriander leaves, mint leaves, green chilies with the lemon juice to get a fine paste. You may add a little water if you feel the mixture is too thick.

Step 2
Wash the paneer thoroughly if it is not homemade. Cut the paneer into medium sized cubes and keep them aside. In a bowl, add the green paste, yogurt, ginger garlic paste, all purpose flour, black pepper, chaat masala and salt and mix well.

Step 3
Add oil in the bowl and then add paneer (cottage cheese) cubes and mix thoroughly so that the paneer cubes are well coated with the green mixture. Use your hands to mildly rub the mixture on the paneer cubes. The all purpose flour that you have used will help the coating to stick to the paneer pieces.

Step 4
Keep aside to marinate for at least two hours. But it is generally advisable to marinate the paneer overnight. This makes the tikkas tastier as the spices are better absorbed by the paneer.

Step 5
Preheat the oven at 200 degree Celsius. Now thread the marinated cubes with 1 inch gap into skewers and place it on the grill rack and grill it for about 15 minutes till it colors lightly. You can also place thickly sliced onions and bell peppers in between the paneer pieces.

Step 6
Note: While grilling, you must check the paneer occasionally as you may need to rotate them once on the skewer and drizzle with a little oil or the tikkas may turn to dry. Serve with onion rings and green mint chutney.
