Babu’s photo exhibition on Paris held in AFD

A solo photo exhibition titled ‘Paris Is Indeed Splendid’ held at Alliance Française de Dhaka (AFD) in Dhanmondi in the capital recently. A slide show of the pictures Babu took in Paris was displayed at the event. Dr Jamal Abu Sayeed of Sorbonne University, Paris read out the keynote paper at the event. He said, “If it is the people that build towns, it is towns that build people.

Thus we must build our towns ourselves. On the other hand, while Paris has preserved its national heritage we are continually destroying them. We must come up with a lot of new plans to develop our towns.”

Among others present at the event were architect Mubasshar Hussein; Mizanur Rahman, former chairman of National Human Rights Commission; Dr Abdul Mannan Choudhury, Vice Chancellor of World University; Professor Shamsul Wares, Dean, School of Science and Technology, State University of Bangladesh; poet and architect Rabiul Husain; Dr Farida Nilufar, Professor at BUET; Dr Akhtar Mahmud, Professor at Jahangirnagar University and Dr Niru Shamsun Nahar, deputy director of National Museum.

Fojit Sheikh Babu is a photojournalist, as well as an environmentally conscious person. He is trying to create public awareness through the photography exhibition.

He already had three photography exhibitions with the same topic. Save the River Buriganga is his 5th solo photography exhibition, which aims at creating public awareness in order to prevent illegal occupation and pollution of the river Buriganga.

Fojit Sheikh Babu was born in 1980 at Rupgonj of Narayangonj. He worked for a long time with the popular photo agency ‘Focus Bangla News’ and ‘Banglar Chock’. Now he is working as a photo journalist at the Daily Alokito Bangladesh.

Fojit Sheikh Babu, a passionate photographer, has started a journey through his photographic-images to check ruination of the environment from pollution. On the occasion of the World Environment Day on June 5, Babu’s solo photography exhibition titled “No More Environment Pollution” was held in Paris.

The exhibition has been focused on disastrous situations of Bangladesh’s climate. The photographer feels that reducing environmental pollution and alleviating poverty are the two biggest challenges facing the world today. The most serious consequence of climate change for the human society will be the changes in rain and snowfall patterns that would present us a warmer earth.
