One killed, 15 injured in Madaripur clash

One person was killed and 15 others were injured in a clash between two rival groups at Sare Shibrasi village under Shibchar upazila of the district this morning.

Police said there had been a long-standing dispute between UP member Ilias Matbor and Altaf Matbar over establishing supremacy in the area.Supporters of them got engaged in an altercation this morning over previous enmity at a local kitchen market and a clash took place between them.

During the clash Ayub Ali, 40, a resident of the same area, died on the spot and 15 others received injuries. The injured were sent to local clinic and Shibchar Upazila Health Complex.On receiving information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control, said officer-in-charge of Shibchar Police Station M Zakir Hossain.

Police also arrested nine persons in this connection. bss
