2 ‘criminals’ killed in Khulna 'shootout'

Two suspected criminals were killed in a reported gunfight with police in terminal area of Khulna early on Monday.

The deceased are Al Mahmud, in his twenties, and Babu.

Being tipped off that a gang of criminal was planning to carry out sabotage; a team of police conducted a drive in the area around 5:00am, said Maria Sultana, additional deputy commissioner of Khulna Metropolitan Police.

Sensing the presence of law enforcers, the criminals fired gunshots. The police personnel also retaliated, triggering the gunfight, leaving two dead on the spot.

Besides, a suspected criminal was injured in a gunfight with police in Sonadanga area of Khulna.
