JS body to check income, expenditure of BRTC bus service

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Estimates and Public Accounts on Sunday suggested the Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) authority under the Department of Road Transport to submit the income and expenditure reports of the BRTC bus service in the next meeting.

"Take the necessary steps to submit a list of total buses, running buses, number of routes and the income and expenditure report till June of the BRTC bus service in the next meeting of the committee," said a parliamentary secretariat statement issued after 11th meeting of the committee at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban. 

Chairman of the committee Noor-e-Alam Chowdhury chaired the meeting, joined by its members AKM Jahangir Hossain, AB Tajul Islam, Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, Yusuf Abdullah Harun, Shahanaara Begum and Major General (retd) ATM Abdul Wahhab were present.

The committee recommended using the vehicles of Padma Multipurpose Bridge Project under Bridges Department of Road Transport and Highways Division, Roads and Highways Department (RHD) following the government policy.

It also recommended the Department of Road Transport to place the progress reports of the projects for 2017-18 financial year and the number of projects given to Army and other organizations for sub-contract. 

The JS body also suggested the department to complete the works of the projects within the next month. 

The committee recommended the Disaster Management and Relief Ministry to formulate a policy to set up solar panels and provide sufficient manpower for the implementation of the projects at the upazila level.bss.
