SYLHET, FEB 3: Around 250 doctors who have been serving in different government recognised hospitals have started suspension of work for indefinite period from Friday morning demanding immediate withdrawal of Moulvibazar Deputy Commissioner Md Mostafizur Rahman and Executive Magistrate Abdul Kuddus.
Apart from Moulvibazar district, the action programme has also been observed in Upazila Sadar Hospital, Upazila Health Complex, Union Health Complex and Family Welfare Centre.
Doctors under the banner of Bangladesh Medical Association in Moulvibazar chapter took part in the programme. The doctors threatened that if their demands were not meet, they would announce greater agitation programme.
Earlier, a mobile court sentenced Dr Mahmudul Hasan Rounok, Medical Officer of Moulvibazar Sadal Hospital for one month for working in Lab Aid Private Clinic at 1pm on Thursday.
But, Bangladesh Medical Association of Moulvibazar chapter claims this complaint is totally false. The doctors’ programme has thrown a lot of patients in different hospital into sufferings. Consequently, many patients have come to Sylhet for better treatment. President of Bangladesh Medical Association the Moulvibazar chapter Dr Sabbir Hosen Khan told 'The Independent' that, mobile court sentenced the doctor without any inquiry. "Hence we declared action the programme,” he added.
