Md. Jakaria Hossain: China is my second home

Zu Hongbing

"Since I was little it was my dream to study in China. This country is even more beautiful and fascinating than I had thought!" said Md. Jakaria Hossain(He Liya), a Bangladeshi student who is now majoring in International Chinese Language Education at Yunnan University. He still remembers the days when he first came to China, four years ago.

For anyone who chooses to study abroad, the first challenge is to learn the language of the country. At first, Jakaria was struggling with the lessons. He could neither read nor understand the teachers, and he found it hard to communicate with others in daily life. Later, with the help of Chinese teachers, he gradually improved his Chinese. Now he can speak fluent Mandarin. "Since I'm in China, I find it is convenient to learn the language. I love my life on campus," said Jakaria .

Since Jakaria came to China, the Chinese lifestyle has transformed him from an ignorant boy into a determined man. "I'm grateful for all the surprises that my study abroad has brought me. Such experiences make me think more maturely, and I have developed a strong character," he said.

Besides study in China, Jakaria has developed a very strong business connections in the country. He runs his own company established by the help of the international innovation center in Kunming.

Jakaria believes that opportunity awaits those who come prepared. He works hard towards his goals for the future and has long considered China as his second home. "I love this home of mine. Here I don’t just have Bangladeshi friends, but Chinese friends as well!" he said emotionally.
