Govt has no intention to send Khaleda Zia to jail: Quader
Independent Online Desk
Awami League General Secretary and Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader on Thrusday said the government has no intention to send BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia to jail.
"Punishing or acquitting anyone is the affair of the court," he said talking to journalists after inauguration a beautification project in front of Radisson Hotel on Airport Road in the city.
Quader made the comment in response to BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir's statement that no election will be held in the country, if Khaleda Zia is sent to jail.
"Time and tide wait for none. The Constitution and polls will not wait for none too," the minister said.
Election will not wait, if anyone is awarded punishment by the court, he said, adding that the national election will be held on time.
Officials of the implementing company of the beautification project, extending from the airport to Banani, were present on the occasion.BSS
