Joint border confce in Rajshahi today

RAJSHAHI: District administration level joint border conference between Bangladesh and India will be held in Rajshahi today (Wednesday), reports BSS. A 15-member Bangladesh side comprising Rajshahi, Chapainawabganj, Kustia, Meherpur, Chuadanga and Jhinedah districts will take part in the conference while Nadia and Murshidabad will be the two Indian counterpart districts. The daylong conference will be held in Circuit House. Mejbah Uddin Chowdhury, Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi and leader of the Bangladesh team, revealed this in a press conference held in his conference hall here yesterday. He told the journalists that some major border related issues like smuggling of drugs, arms and other goods and commodities and human trafficking will be discussed in the conference to devise ways and means on how to prevent those jointly. Some other issues like cross-border crimes will also come up for discussion, he added. There is also scope of exchanging lists of criminals hiding and inmates in jails on minor offense in both the countries, Mejbah Chowdhury expected.
