Arms, ammo recovered in Manikganj

Manikganj police recovered 7 illegal firearms and 225 rounds of bullets from Ghona village of Garpara union under Sadar upazila upazila of the district on Thursday.  OC of Sadar Police Station Mohammed Rakibuzzaman, said Saiful Islam, son of Adom Ali, an inhabitant of Gorpara saw the pistols and bullets inside a plastic bag in the canal while he fishing there. Later, he informed the matter to Afsar Uddin, chairman of Garpara Union Council.

On information police recovered 2 pistols, 5 revolvers, 225 rounds of bullets and 2 magazines from the spot in an abandoned condition.

Police Superintendent Rifat Rahman Shamim visited the spot and said that the recovered pistol and bullets had been rusty as many years old.

Replying to a query, the SP said “We would be able to know that who or who damped the arms and ammunitions into the canal water only after investigation.’’ Necessary measures will be taken in this regard after the investigation.
