Former South Africa batsman Hashim Amla will come to Bangladesh today to join Khulna Tigers for the ongoing Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BBPL).

The ace batsman will be seen from the upcoming fourth phase in Sylhet, which will kick off on January 2.

Khulna team Manager Nafees Iqbal confirmed Amla’s arrival in Bangladesh for this special edition of the BPL to media yesterday. “Amla is expected to arrive tomorrow (Tuesday),” said Nafees Iqbal.

“He will be available from the next game of Khulna Tigers in Sylhet against Dhaka Platoon,” Nafees told media. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s pace-bowling all-rounder Aamer Yamin will also join the squad,” he added.

This will be the first time for Amla in BPL. The 36-year-old batsman retired from international cricket in August 2019. As of now, he has been playing in different franchisee-based cricket tournaments all over the world after his retirement.

However, injured Dhaka Platoon all-rounder Shahid Afridi returned to Pakistan after being injured. It’s learnt from the Platoon sources that Dhaka Sri Lanka all-rounder Thisara Perera also left Dhaka for Sri Lanka.

Pakistan batsman Ahmed Shehzad and all-rounder Faheem Ashraf are scheduled to join Dhaka tents to replace the two all-rounders Afridi and Thisara.
