Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) students -- who have been protesting over a month demanding justice for Abrar -- have announced to continue boycotting classes and examinations til their latest three-point demands are met.

Their latest three demands are: permanent expulsions of the students included in the published charged sheet, ensuring punishment of those were involved in ragging and issuing an ordinance declaring specific punishment for ragging. Aniruddha Ganguly, a student of Computer Science and Engineering Department, made the announcement yesterday on the BUET's  Shaheed Minar premises.

He said, “On November 2, we held a meeting with the BUET authorities where we placed three-point demands. And following the demands BUET authorities assured us to meet two of three demands within a week but even after two weeks, the authorities did not take any single initiative to meet those demands which proves their negligence over the issue.”

He also said, “On that day we, the students, told them that we will appear in the term final examination if they meet our demands within a week as per their assurance. But they did not do so.” “Students are eager to get back to class but the authorities seems to be unwillingness to function its academic activities”, he added.

The agitating students thanked the law enforcement agencies for including 25 people in the charge-sheet. The students have been protesting over a month, demanding justice for Abrar Fahad, who was beaten to death inside the university’s dormitory. Earlier on Wednesday, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) charged 25 BUET students for Abrar’s murder.
