Today Humayun Ahmed’s birthday

Today is the 71st birth anniversary of prolific author, dramatist, screenwriter, playwright and filmmaker Humayun Ahmed. The day is set to be celebrated through various types of events arranged by different organisations. Moreover, the television and radio channels have chalked out various programmes to make the day in an appropriate manner.

Humayun Mela at Channel i

The sixth edition of ‘Humayun Mela’ will be held today on the premises of Channel i in the capital’s Tejgaon area. The inauguration ceremony of the event will be held at 11:05am in the presence of family members of Humayun Ahmed, noted theatre personalities, poet-writers, eminent journalists and directors of Channel i, among others.

Attending the event, eminent personalities from different fields will recall their memories with the great writer. Songs of Humayun Ahmed will also be performed at the event.  

Moreover, various stalls with Humayun Ahmed’s books and DVDs of his films and dramas will be set up at the fair.

The event will be aired live on Channel i and Radio Bhumi till 2pm.

‘Humayun Janma Utsab 2019’

Himu Paribahan, a platform for Humayun fans, has organised a daylong festival titled ‘Humayun Janma Utsab 2019’ across the country to celebrate the 71st birth anniversary of Humayun Ahmed today. As part of the festival, a team of representative will visit Nuhash Palli for paying their respect to the writer. Their journey will start at 6am from the Curzon Hall of Dhaka University.  During their journey, they will distribute leaflets among the mass people for creating awareness on cancer.

They will arrange a discussion and cultural programme at the TSC auditorium of Dhaka University at 4pm.

TV and radio programmes

Various television and radio channels will air an array of programmes, such as musical programme, tele-drama and film to celebrate the birth anniversary of Humayun Ahmed.
