Schoolboy Iftekhar Ahmed Wazid who got trapped inside a three-storey building after it collapsed in Baburail area of the city on Sunday was found dead yesterday afternoon. Firefighters retrieved the body of Wazid, son of Mohammad Rubel, from the debris around 2 pm, 46 hours after the building came crashing down, said Assistant Director of Narayanganj Fire Service and Civil Defence Md Abdullah Al Arefin. Later, the body was handed over to the family in the presence of Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Nahida Barik. With this, the death toll from the incident has risen to two. On Sunday, 12-year-old boy Shoeb, also Wazed’s cousin, died and seven people were injured when the three-storey building collapsed at around 4:15 pm. The building was constructed two years ago on a canal reportedly without following the building code, said the locals. A five-member committee was formed to investigate the matter.
