Bangladesh U-19 in command over Sri Lanka

After dominating with the ball on day one, Bangladesh U19 batsmen Prantik Nawrose, Alvi Hoque and Shahadat Hossain struck three half-centuries to put the hosts on a commendable position over their Sri Lankan counterparts at the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna yesterday. The hosts were 321 for eight when the stumps were drawn for second day.

Prantik, Alvi and Shahadat scored 98, 72 and 50 respectively as the Youth Tigers lead by 137 runs in the first knock before the umpires drawn the bails off for day 2.

Resuming the first innings from 71 for 2, Prantik Nawrose and Alvi Hoque added 135-run for the third wicket before the former got out just two runs shy of his maiden ton. Prantik , who ended his innings on a frustrating note, struck 15 fours in his well made 98. After his departure another half-centurion Shahadat Hossain joined Alvi to produce an invaluable 81-run partnership for the fourth wicket targeting to advance the first innings lead to a big one.

While the Youth Tigers were in a formidable position (262 for 3) at one stage, Amshi De Silva dismissed Alvi for 72 to trigger the batting collapse as the hosts lost the last five wickets only adding 46 runs to the scorecard. In the meantime, Shahadat smashed exact 50 before leaving the crease.

Earlier on day one, young pacer Shahin Alam claimed a seven-wicket haul to restrict Sri Lanka U19 for 184 all-out in their first knock to put the hosts in charge against the opposition.
