‘Konttho’ set for release in Bangladesh Nov 8

Paoli Dam and Shiboprosad Mukherjee in ‘Konttho’

Indian Bengali film ‘Konttho’ is now set for release in Bangladesh on November 8. The film will be released in Bangladesh under the South Asian Free Trade Area (SAFTA) agreement.

Already released in India on May 10 this year, the social drama film ‘Konttho’ is directed jointly by Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee.

The film, which has received the censor certificate recently for its Bangladesh release, will be distributed here by Impress Telefilm Limited. The film will hit a number of 12 cinema halls across the country, including Star Cineplex, Blockbuster Cinemas, Shaymoli Cinema Hall and Balaka Cineworld.

Celebrated Bangladeshi actress Jaya Ahsan has played the role of Romilla in the film.

Inspired by the life of the Bibhuti Chakraborty, a survivor of laryngeal cancer, the film also casts Indian actors Shiboprosad Mukherjee as Arjun Mallik and Paoli Dam as Pritha Mallik.

‘Konttho’ was selected as the Indian entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 92nd Academy Awards.
