Students vow to raise voice against child marriage

Students at a large gathering expressed their commitment of raising strong voice against child marriage and drug addiction in order to free the society from the social curse.

They also adopted a firm stance of building themselves as worthy citizens through protecting from all sorts of social crimes while attending an open discussion of a daylong holiday camp yesterday afternoon.

Mohanpur Upazila Parishad authority and the Hunger Project Bangladesh jointly organised the programme in association with ”Her Choice Programme’ at the upazila parishad auditorium in the district. Upazila Chairman Advocate Abdus Salam, Vice-chairmen Mehbub Hassan and Sanjida Rahman, Regional Coordinator of the Hunger Project Bangladesh Mijanur Rahman and its Area Coordinator Subrata Kumar Paul addressed the meeting as resource persons with Upazila Secondary Education Officer Muktadir Ahmed in the chair.

In his remarks, Advocate Abdus Salam said collective efforts of all government and non-government entities concerned have become crucial to combat the social menaces to ensure peace and harmony everywhere in the society.

He stressed prevention of children marriage and drug addiction to make a developed and healthy society.

Salam also urged the students to enrich them with modern education to make them worthy citizens.

 More than 300 students including 200 girls from 16 educational institutions joined the programme. On the occasion, the students took oath of doing work for welfare of the society through their best practices.
