SL HP team win one-day series 2-1

Bangladesh HP team opening batsman Saif Hasan’s brilliant century went in vain as their counterpart Sri Lanka HP team clinched the 3-match unofficial ODI series 2-1, beating Bangladesh HP by  7 wickets in a rain curtailed encounter at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna yesterday.

After being sent to bat, ton-up Saif Hasan and skipper Nazmul Hossain Shanto recovered the hosts from an early collapse with a 74-run stand for 2nd wicket after Naim Shiekh fell cheaply in 4th over. Afif Hossian who remained unbeaten on 68 added an invaluable 125-run with Saif for 4th wicket to help post the hosts 269 from their allotted 50 overs.

Saif Hasan smashed 4 fours and 7 sixes in his excellent innings of 117.

In reply, Sri Lanka HP got off to fiery start with the bat scoring almost seven runs per over till the mandatory power play. When Sri Lankan batsmen Padhun Nissanka and Minod Bhanuka were flying in the middle, rain stopped play and set the revised target of 199 from 28 overs for the visitors.

But the rain delay didn’t make any impact on them as the duo continued their assault on bowlers. It was raining boundaries during their 132-run partnership that made bulk of the damages for the hosts. Bhanuka produced a cameo of 55 off just 32 balls while Nissanka remained unbeaten on 115 off just 78 to chase down the target with four overs to spare.
