Bangladesh suffer another big defeat

Bangladesh women Under-21 national hockey team suffered their second successive defeat to Sports Authority of Indian (SAI) by 6-0 yesterday at the Maulana Bhashani Hockey Stadium.

Bangladesh national women team who are a rookie side also suffered defeat by an identical margin in their first minute on Tuesday, could not halt the experience side from India.

In the second day’s game Bangladesh team looked better organised than their first game, despite conceding four goals in the first half could halt the strong visiting sides to score two more goals during the scored one goals each in the second and last quarter.

However, Shakashi opened the scoring in the eighth minute with Gayatri Kinan scoring one and Manisha Chautian struck twice to make the first half tally 4-0.

Lalruatfeli and Lotia Mary added one goal each in the second half to down the hosts by 6-0.

After the break Bangladesh girls looked more organised and disciplined when it was remarkable that despite inexperienced they could play with good stamina throughout 60 minutes game, as the stronger opponents could score only two goals in the second half.

However, Bangladesh women team showed a very poor finishing as they failed to taste the Indian goalkeeper seriously for a single occasion.

The two teams will play their  third match today at the same venue at 7pm under flood light.  They are scheduled to play six preparation matches for the Singapore tournament. Incidentally it was maiden international venture for Bangladesh women’s hockey team.
