Milad for Bangabandhu held
UNB, Dhaka

A milad and doa mahfil was held at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) yesterday, marking the 44th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Mourning Day.
Prime Minister’s Economic Affairs Adviser Dr Mashiur Rahman, Energy Adviser Dr Towfique-e-Elahi Chowdhury and Principal Secretary Md Nojibur Rahman spoke on the occasion highlighting the life and works of the Father of the Nation.
PMO Secretary Sajjadul Hassan and other officials and employees of the PMO were present at the milad mahfil held after Zohr prayers.
A special munajat was offered seeking the eternal peace of the departed soul of Bangabandhu and other martyrs of the August-15 carnage, and continued peace, progress and prosperity of the nation.
Director of the Islamic Foundation Mufti Waliur Rahman Khan conducted the munajat.
1 held with 10,000 yaba tablets
BSS, Dhaka

Airport Armed Police Battalion (AAPBn) members yesterday detained one person with 10.000 yaba tablets at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
Confirming the report, AAPBn additional superintendent (operations and media) Alamgir Hossain said Jasim Uddin, 36, was detained from outside the domestic terminal of the airport.
 “Members of AAPBn detained Jasim from the area at around 1 pm as he was walking there suspiciously. As we interrogated him, he confessed carrying the drugs. Later we recovered the yaba tablets hidden inside his belt,” the AAPBn official said.
It was learned that Jasim Uddin reached here from Cox’s Bazar by Novoair flight- VQ 934 at around 12.45pm. He is the son of Nur Ahmed of village Gouj Ghona Palongkhali under Ukhia Police Station of Cox’s Bazar.
The estimated cost of the seized yaba tablets is Taka 50 lakh. Filing of case on this regard is underway.
2 killed in city road crashes
UNB, Dhaka

Two people were killed in road accidents at Turag and Uttar Badda in the city on Saturday night and Sunday.
Shahidul Islam, 45, son of late Saidul Islam of Charikumarpara in Kamalkanda upazila of Netrakona district, was killed in a road accident at Uttar Badda in the city on Sunday.
Locals found Shahidul critically injured being hit by an unknown vehicle under Badda over bridge around 7:30 am, said Inspector Bachchu Mia of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) police camp.
Later, he was taken to DMCH where doctors declared him dead.
In another incident, an unidentified sexagenarian woman was injured being hit by a bus of 'Ekata Paribahan' at Kamarpara in Turag area around 11 pm on Saturday.
She was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared her dead.
Listed motorcycle thief  held
BSS, Chattogram

Chattogram metropolitan police in a drive arrested two listed motorcycle lifters with two stolen motorcycles from engineer colony of Pahartali thana on Saturday.
The arrested was identified as Mohammad Foisal, 27, and Yasin Afafat Saddam, 27, members of an organised motorcycle thief gang.
Police recovered a two stolen motorcycles from his possession during the drive, police said.
Acting on a tip of, a team of Pahartali thana police arrested them from engineer colony, east side of Velurdigi under the police station on 2.30 am.
