Tamalika returns to acting with ‘Raarang’ today

National Film Award winning actress Tamalika Karmakar, who went on a break from the acting industry, is set to return to acting once again after a one-year hiatus. The actress will be seen reprising her role Shamoli in her comeback project ‘Raarang’, a popular play by theatre troupe Aranyak Natyadal, today.

Returning to the country from the USA recently, the actress has made the decision to become regular in acting, Tamalika informed.

Written and directed by veteran theatre personality Mamunur Rashid, ‘Raarang’ depicts the heroic tale of the struggles of the Santal community under British rule.

DhakaLive has news that 184th show of the play is scheduled to be staged at 7pm at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in Segun Bagicha of the capital.

About returning to stage again, Tamalika said, “Truth to be told, I am a little nervous with my return on stage. At the same time, I am also ecstatic about it. Aranyak is my beloved troupe. Since 2004, ‘Rarang’ has been staged on a regular basis. I have been with this play from the beginning and I hope to be there in the future. I request the viewers to enjoy the show today.”

Expressing her gratitude to her theatre mentor Mamunur Rashid, the actress added that she wants to be under his guidance as he was the one, who brought her to acting industry.

Apart from this, Tamalika intends to appear in upcoming Eid projects as well, but right at the moment, the actress has concentrated on the play ‘Raarang’ only.
