National soccer team leaves for Thailand today on way to Laos

A 31-member national squad including eight officials and coaches leaves Dhaka for Bangkok today on their way to Laos to play the World Cup 2022 pre-qualifying round match. Bangladesh national team scheduled to play two practice matches in Thailand before to fly to Laos.

Bangladesh will play two preparation matches in Thailand on May 28 and June 1 in Bangkok against Air Force United and Bangkok Glass Pathum United respectively. Air Force United club is comprised with one player each from France, New Zealand, Australia and Afghanistan while, Bangkok Glass Pathum United had one player each from Brazil, Spain, Japan and Singapore.

However, Jamie Day, the head coach of the Bangladesh team expressed his high hope to win the match against Laos when talking in a press conference yesterday at the BFF Bhaban said, “We want to win against Laos to move forward to the qualifiers.”

“I have worked with same players in the past and expecting the maximum from them. Now I am looking forward to the practice matches in Thailand for preparation of Laos matches.”

Captain Zamal Bhuyian said, “Everyone knows that two matches against Laos is very important, all know what happened two years ago against Bhutan, hopefully this time we will get the result, though this is a new squad.”   

“We have to take the matches very seriously and have to be more focused on the task and win the game to go to the next stage,” said Jamal.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh defeated Laos in the Bangabandhu Gold Cup International football  tournament last year.
