Two-day film screening starts at
Goethe-Institut today

In remembrance of late actor Bruno Ganz, a two-day film screening is taking place at the auditorium of Goethe-Institut Bangladesh in Dhanmondi of the capital.

The film screening has been arranged as a part of 129th edition of World Film Manifestation Program (WFMP), presented by Goethe-Institut Bangladesh, in collaboration with Dhaka University Film Society (DUFS).

DhakaLive has news that with two films screening per day, four films starred by the celebrated actor Bruno Ganz will be screened at the two-day event, starting from 11am today.

With the runtime of 127 minutes, ‘The American Friend’ (1977), directed by Wim Wenders will be screened at 11am today, while ‘Circle of Deceit’ (1981) directed by Volker Schlöndorff will be screened at 1:30pm. Tomorrow, Theodoros Angelopoulos’s directed film ‘Eternity and a Day’ (1998) will be screened at 11am while ‘Downfall’ (2004), directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel will be screened at 1:30pm on the second of the screening.

All screenings are free, and open to all.

Bruno Ganz was a Swiss actor whose career in German-language film and television productions lasted for more than fifty years. From 1996 until his death in 2019, Ganz held the Republic of Austria’s Iffland-Ring, which passes from actor to actor — each bequeathing the ring to the next holder, judging that actor to be the most significant and most worthy actor of the German-speaking theatre.
