Five  die in Ctg incidents

UNB, Chattogram

Five people died in different incidents here from Friday night to yesterday morning. The deceased were identified as Md Mostak, Abdur Rahim, Abdul Monaf, Osman Goni and Md Sohel.

Sub-inspector Jahirul Islam, in-charge of Chittaong Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) police outpost said Abdul Monaf, 22, who sustained injuries in a clash with his nephews over land on Friday afternoon, died at the hospital at night.

Abdur Rahim, 35, son of Nur Kader of Pekua upazila in Cox’s Bazar district fell sick at night after taking poison following a brawl with his wife and died at the hospital in the morning.

Besides, Md Mostak, son of Faridul, who also took poison over family feud, died at the hospital around 1 am.

Meanwhile, Osman Gani, 26, was killed in a road accident at Customs intersection while Md Sohel, 34, was killed in a road crash at Fakirhat in Sitakundu upazila at night.

Land broker shot in capital

UNB, Dhaka

A land broker suffered critical wounds after being shot by unknown criminals in city’s Jatrabari area on Friday night.

Md Obaidullah, 45, also brother of Police inspector Abdullah AL Mamun of Counter terrorism Unit, was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) at midnight, said Bacchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH Police Outpost.

Abdullah said two criminals riding on motorcycle shot his brother Obaidullah in front of Badhua community clinic near Sayedbad bridge around 11:45pm while he was returning to his residence in Purba Shekhdi by a rickshaw and fled the scene.

The reason behind the attack could not be known yet, Bacchu Mia added.

48 detained in anti-drug drives

UNB, Dhaka

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) detained 48 drug sellers and users from the city during special anti narcotics drives on Friday.

Detective Branch (DB) and police conducted separate drives and seized 2,045 yaba pills, 403gram heroin and three kilogram of hemp, said DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Masudur Rahman.
