Shilpakala celebrates birthday of Bangabandhu

Celebrating the 99th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Children’s Day, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) yesterday organised an elaborated programme titled ‘Shilper Aloy Bangabandhu’ (Bangabandhu through the light of art) at the academy premises in the capital.

With the slogan ‘Jatir Potaka Haatey Spondito Bukey Monay Hoy Amrai Mujib’, the day-long programme began in the morning by placing a floral wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu in Dhanmondi 32.

An art competition titled ‘Shishuder Chitrapote Bangabandhu’ held at 11am at the National Art Plaza of BSA. About 200 children took part in the exhibition.

A Children’s film screening session held at 4pm at the National Art Plaza of BSA, where ‘Bari Phera’ by Jamsedur Rahman, ‘Mon Phoring’ by Rahman Lelin, ‘Somantoral Yatra’ by Tareq Aziz, ‘Ayna’ by Tauqir Islam, ‘Dakghar’ by Lucy Tripti Gomes and ‘Amader Bangabandhu’ by Abdullah Al Harun were screened.

Besides, a cultural programme held in the evening. The programme also featured staging of the play ‘Mujib Mane Mukti’ by People’s Little Theatre.

In the chorus rendition, students of Mastermind school, Viqarunnisa Noon School and College, Bir Shreshtha Noor Mohammad Public College, Adamjee Cantonment Public College, Mohammadpur Preparatory School, Rajuk Uttara Model College, Holy Cross Girl’s School and College and others took part. Child artistes Suraiya Akter Suborna, Raiyan Binte Habib, Wajiur Rahman, Srejani Sarkar Jitu and Gungun took part in the solo rendition.

Moreover, the artistes of BSA presented acrobatic show at the programme.
