Tigers mourn Chawakbazar fire tragedy

Country’s cricketers expressed deep sadness at the massive fire incident in Old Dhaka’s Chawakbazar that killed at least 70 people and counting. The fire broke out in a four-storey building behind the Shahi Mosque at Churihatta around 10:30pm Wednesday and ripped through four other annex buildings.

Cricketers who are in New Zealand took their social media handle to express their condolence over the incident. “Prayers for the victims of Chawakbazar May Allah give them strength,” opener Tamim Iqbal wrote in his twitter and facebook page.

Hard-hitter batsman Sabbir Rahman who smashed his maiden century during the third ODI also expressed his sadness in social media outlet.

“So many people were killed. May Allah help us and give the strength to counter this situation. Prayers for the victims,” Sabbir wrote. Pace bowler Rubel Hossain wrote: “May Allah give us the strength to have patience and grant them the Jannat who passed away at the incident.”

Another pacer Mustafizur Rahman also came up with his condolence. “Felt really bad at the incident. So many people were killed. My prayers are with them.” Fast bowler Taskin Ahmed urged everybody to donate blood for the people who were admitted after being injured in this fire incident.

“Those who are close to Dhaka Medical College at the moment, please go there”.
