‘Lost Childhood’ brings international award for Pinu Rahman

Freelance photographer Pinu Rahman recently won the Best of Nation- Bangladesh award at the esteemed World Photographic Cup (WPC), jointly organised by the Federation of European Photographers (FEP) and Professional Photographers of America (PPA). Pinu won the award in the Photojournalist category for his photo titled ‘Lost Childhood.’ About the photo, he told that it was shot inside a factory in Sadarghat in last October. A banker by professions, Pinu is the first person to win the award for Bangladesh. He will go to Drammen, Norway on April 8 to receive the award.

“Child labour is a very common phenomenon in our country. In my photo, I tried to capture the spirit of a child that got lost in the hard labour in a factory,” he said.

The photographer said his favourite photography subject is the bonding between human and nature. “Because of my full-time responsibility at a state-owned bank, I can only go out to click my photos during the weekend.”

Founded in 2013 as a joint effort by the FEP and PPA, WPC aims to unite photographers in a spirit of friendship and cooperation through an international team competition. Around 600 photos selected from 32 countries were submitted at this year’s contest.
