Hanif urges BNP to evaluate reasons behind defeat in polls

BSS, Kushtia

Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif yesterday called upon BNP to find out the reasons behind their defeat in the December 30 parliamentary election to take up future steps to attain people’s trust.

“BNP has turned into a political party that is isolated from people. Its leaders are spreading different propaganda after being defeated in the national election,” he told newsmen before joining a meeting of Kushtia General Hospital managing committee here.

About the remarks of Gonoshasthaya Kendra founder and Oikyafront leader Zafrullah Chowdhury that the country’s democracy has been buried under the administration of the Election Commission, the AL leader said Chowdhury was a freedom fighter.

But, Hanif said, there is no logical ground to take cognizance of Chowdhury’s remarks terming the 77-year-old BNP-led Jatiya Oikyafront leader as an elderly person.

Kushtia Medical College Principal Prof SM Mustanjid, Kushtia Deputy Commissioner Md Aslam Hossain, general hospital’s deputy-director Dr Hasanuzzaman, resident medical officer (RMO) Dr Taposh Kumar Sarker were present on the occasion.
