2 DU students get AQM Mahiuddin Scholarship

Two meritorious students of the Department of Geography and Environment of Dhaka University (DU) have been awarded “AQM Mahiuddin Memorial Scholarship” for securing the highest CGPA in Bachelor of Science examination of 2017. The recipients of scholarships are- Nishat Tasnim Kakon and Amzed Hossen. DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr Akhtaruzzaman distributed scholarships among the students on Sunday at the VC’s lounge of the university. DU treasurer Prof Dr Kamal Uddin presided over the function while chairman of the Department of Geography and Environment Prof Dr Rejuan Hussain Bhuiyan, donor of the trust fund Prof Dr Naznin Afrose Haq were present, among others. The VC urged the students to equip themselves with moral values to make Bangladesh a prosperous country.

Model UN conference ends at DIU

The closing ceremony of “Daffodil International Model UN Conference 2019” held at Daffodil International University (DIU) campus at Ashulia recently, said a press release. Shudipto Mukherjee, country director of UNDP, chaired the programme. Humayun Kabir, former ambassador of Bangladesh to the US, Senior Lecturer Rafi Al Mahmud, convener of DIU Model UN Association, were also present, among others. Daffodil International MUN was organised by DIU Model UN Association in association with UN and UNIC, Dhaka as knowledge partner.  About 250 student delegates took part at the conference themed “Engaging Youth for Initiating World Peace through Peace Dialogue”.

CUET ECCE conference to begin on Feb 7

A three-day-long international conference on Electrical, Computer and Communication Engineering (ECCE) of Chittagong University of Science and Technology (CUET) will start from February 7 in Cox’s Bazar. Several hundred participants, teachers, researchers, scientists, will take part in the conference, said a press release.

RU observes 52nd death anniv of Madar Bux

The 52nd death anniversary of Madar Bux, social worker and renowned politician who played vital role in establishing Rajshahi University (RU), was observed on Sunday on the campus. RU Madar Bux hall authorities arranged a discussion on the occasion. Madar Bux hall Provost Professor Dr Abdul Alim presided over the programme. Madar Bux was a politician in East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) who died on January 20, 1967.
