Vikings, Kings face tough battle on way to play-off

Chittagong Vikings will face off Rajshahi Kings in the first match of the day three of the third leg in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in Mirpur. The match, a day-affair, will begin at 1:30pm today.

Both Vikings and Kings took at the center stage of discussion for their jaw-dropping victories one after another without any big name player. The Vikings currently placed second position on the BPL points-table just after toppling table-toppers Dhaka Dynamites, while Kings remain rooted to the fourth position with eight points.

The Vikings chalked up the identical 10 points with Dynamites though the Chattogram outfit played one match less than the 2016 BPL champions but Dynamites remained on pole position with better net run-rate.

The Vikings matched their points tally with Dynamites beating them in the last-over thriller on Monday by Robert Frylinck’s all-round heroics.

Rajshahi Kings on the other hand remerged a reckoning force as they made their billing stronger for the BPL title beating the top BPL teams including Dhaka Dynamites, Rangpur Riders and Comilla Victorians.

They have strong bowling line-up spearheaded by Mustafizur Rahman that is enough to pose big threat against any BPL team.

Day’s second match will be held between two rock-bottom teams-Sylhet Sixers, who earned four points and Khulna Titans, who picked only two points at their kitty- at the same venue at 6:30pm. The Titans, who stand on the brink of the early exit from the tournament after losing to Rangpur Riders by six wickets yesterday.

Sylhet Sixers on the other hand also remain to the bank of the untimely exit of the T20 Tournament though they have hopes to mathematically play at the Play-Offs.

They, who have four points in their points tally, remained five matches further.
