Western Marine gets $6.8m order from UAE

United Arab Emirates (UAE) based company Al-Rashid Shipping Ltd on Sunday placed an order of USD $6.8 million for building two Oil Tankers to Western Marine Shipyard Limited (WMShL).

The two Bangladesh made Oil Tankers will ply in the Arabian Sea. Each will be 109.65M Long, 18.00M Broad & 8.40M Deep.

The vessel will be built under French class BV and their main engine and other machineries and equipment will come from Japanese and European makers.

In 2017 Western Marine exported a Landing Craft to the same company and recently they have also ordered a Offshore Support vessel to WMShL. These newly ordered Oil Tankers will have 6500 DWT carrying capacity and they will cost $6.8 Million.

WMShL Managing Director Sakhawat Hossain and  Ahmed Al Marzuki of Al-Rashid Shipping Ltd signed this contract at Western Marine Shipyard Chattogram office.

In November 2017, WMShL exported and a Landing Craft namely ‘Ajman Trans’ to the same company in UAE. That was the first ship export from Bangladesh to a Middle Eastern nation. That was the 43rd ship exported from Bangladesh so far and it was the 32nd ship exported by WMShL.

Currently WMShL holds local and foreign orders for building 42 ships.
