Bangladesh Short and Docu Film Festival set to begin today

An eight-day film festival titled ‘Bangladesh Short Film and Documentary Film Festival 2018’, organized by the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), will begin today in 64 districts of the country simultaneously.

Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor will inaugurate the festival today as the chief guest at 5pm in the National Art Plaza of BSA.

Alongside, Director General of BSA Liaquat Ali Lucky, Secretary to the Information Ministry Abdul Malek, Secretary to the Cultural Affairs Ministry Md Nasir Uddin Ahmed, noted filmmaker Manzare Hasin Murad, President of Bangladesh Film Directors Association Mushfiqur Rahman Gulzar and President of Bangladesh Short Film Forum Zahidur Rahman Anjan will also be present as special guests at the inauguration ceremony.

A five-member jury committee will review a total of 70 films this year. The committee selected 48 short films and 22 documentary films for screening this year’s festival.

From the selected films, ‘Best Film’ will get Tk 1 lakh while ‘Best Filmmaker’ will get Tk 50,000 and ‘special jury award’ will get Tk 25,000 for both short films and documentary films.

The announcement of the winners will be declared on the concluding day of the festival on December 15.

A press conference was held on last Thursday to announce the details of the film festival at the seminar room of the National Theatre Auditorium. Director General of BSA, Liaquat Ali Lucky, addressed the press conference where other officials of the Academy were also present.
