Iranian delegation meets DU VC

Syed Hemayet Mirjadah, member of Presidium Committee for Education and Technology of Iran, called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof  Md Akhtaruzzaman yesterday.

During the meeting, they discussed about the mutual interest-related issues, especially joint collaborative academic and research programmes being conducted by Dhaka University and various higher educational institutions of Iran.

In the meeting, Syed Hemayet Mirzadah praised Bangladesh’s contribution to the Rohingya issue and highlighted the religious and cultural activities of the two countries.

He dwelt on the academic and administrative activities of Dhaka University and showed his positive gestures about Bangladesh. Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman gave an overview of history, tradition and achievement of DU and also discussed about the progress of Bangladesh.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman thanked the guest for visiting DU and showing keen interest in its academic and research activities.

IU online application process rescheduled

KUSHTIA: The online application process for the first year honours course admission tests under 2018-19 academic session of Islamic University (IU) will start from September 15 instead of September 10 as scheduled earlier.

The decision came from an emergency meeting of the university central admission test committee with IU vice-chancellor Prof M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari in the chair, said M Ataul Hoque, director of IU information, publication and public relations on Wednesday.

IU pro-vice chancellor Prof M Shahinoor Rahman, Treasurer Prof M Selim Toha and acting registrar SM Abdul Latif, among others, were present at the meeting.

The admission will be held from November 4 to 7 with introducing written exam, he added. More information about the admission tests procedure will be available on the university website atwww.iu.ac.bd.

EWU welcomes freshers in fall semester

The orientation programmes of the newly admitted students for Fall Semester 2018 were held in different academic departments of East West University (EWU) campus at Aftabnagar, Dhaka on Thursday, says a press release. Nearly 1000 students were admitted to graduate and undergraduate programmes in 13 different departments in this semester.

Each department of EWU arranged individual programmes for their newly admitted students. The objectives of the programmes were to welcome new students and introduce them to university facilities, faculty members, the academic system and the rules and regulations of the institution.

Those programmes were attended by among others, Dr Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson of Board of Trustees (BoT), EWU and Former Governor of Bangladesh Bank, HN Ashequr Rahman MP, Member, BoT, EWU and Chairman, Meghna Bank Ltd, Prof Dr MM Shahidul Hassan, Vice-Chancellor, Prof Fakrul Alam, Pro-Vice Chancellor, and the deans of the university.
