BAAS golden jubilee starts on Sept 15

Bangladesh AOTS Alumni Society (BAAS), an organisation of those who received technical or management training under the auspices of Association for Overseas Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Partnerships (AOTS), Japan, is going to observe its ‘50 Years Celebration of BAAS 2018’ at Hotel Sonargaon in the capital on September 15.

Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury will inaugurate the programme on September 15 as the chief guest while Prime Minister’s economic affairs adviser Dr. Mashiur Rahman will attend the golden jubilee as the special guest.

Minister for Commerce Tofail Ahmed will be present at the closing ceremony as the chief guest while Minister of Housing and Public Works Engr. Mosharraf Hossain as special guest and Japanese Ambassador in Bangladesh Mr. Hiroyasu Izumi and president of AOTS Shinya Kuwayama as guest of honor.

Syed Ahsanul Apon, an executive member of BAAS said Japan has provided scholarship to around 4,000 Bangladeshi people in the last 50 years as part of its human resources development for developing countries which has a great impact in industrial and business sectors of the country.

AOTS, an autonomous body of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Japan gives the scholarship in a bid to promote internationalisation of industries and trade, as well as encouraging investment activities and international economic cooperation in developing countries like Bangladesh, he said.
