Chargesheet submitted over 2 traders’ murder in Narayanganj

NARAYANGAnJ: Police submitted the chargesheet in the sensational gold and cloth traders' murders in Narayanganj on Monday, reports UNB. Sub-inspector Mafizul Islam of district police, also the investigation officer of the case, submitted the charge sheet to judicial magistrate court in the afternoon. He said a total of 109 pages of charge sheet accusing Pintu Devnath, Abdullah Al-Mamun and Bapen Bhoimik over cloth trader Prabir Chandra Ghosh's murder while 203 pages chargesheet accusing Pintu Devnath, his girlfriend Ratna Rani Chakrabarty and Abdullah Al-Mamun over Shapan Kumar Shah murder.

Earlier on July 10, police recovered the decomposed body of a gold trader Prabir Chandra Ghosh, who went missing on June 18, from a septic tank in Amalpara area of the city.

Prabir was an owner of Bholanath Jewelry, disappeared while returning home from his shop in Kalirbazar Shornopatti area.

Following the missing incident, father of the victim Bholanath Ghosh registered a general diary (GD) with Narayanganj Sadar Police Station on June 19.

Later, the case was handed over to the Detective Branch of police who later detained two suspects--Pintu and Babu- by tracking their mobile phones.

After interrogation, one of the detainees Pintu confessed about the murder, said Mafizul Islam, sub-inspector of DB police.

Following his information, police recovered the severed and decomposed body from the septic tank of a four-storey building of one Thandu Mia around 11 pm, said the SI.

Earlier on October 27, 2016, arrestee Babu confessed regarding murder of cloth trader Shapan, who went missing on June 18. Following the incident, victim's elder brother Ajit Kumar Shah filed a murder and abduction case with Sadar Model Police Station against Pintu Devnath, Ratna Rani Chakrabarty, Bapan and Abdulla Al-Mamun.

According to confession, Pintu called Shapan to his house for a party where he was hacked to death.
