Rubel flies to UAE to join Asia Cup team

Even though the bulk of the Bangladesh cricket team’s players left Dhaka for United Arab Emirates (UAE), Tamim Iqbal and Rubel Hossain could not fly with them due to their visa complication.

They were scheduled to get their visa on Monday. But Rubel Hossain among them gets his visa and flew to UAE yesterday evening. Tamim Iqbal however couldn’t accompany Rubel as he received the visa later on the day and he was due to leave Dhaka on Tuesday night.

It was reaction from everywhere after getting Rubel’s visa. However, according to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), they have no control over visa process so they can do a bit in this regard. But BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury expressed his optimism and said that the wait of Tamim’s visa will soon be ended.

“If the problem of visa would be for our country then we used to talk with our government. But the authority of the visa is United Arab Emirates (UAE) embassy and event authority is Asian Cricket Council (ACC). We are always keeping our contracts with both of them,” said Nizamuddin Chowdhury.

“As India is the organiser of the Asia Cup, in that case, we’re also communicating with their authority concern. Along with ACC, we are also trying to collect visa as early as possible,” Chowdhury told reporters at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur yesterday.

Tamim is the mainstay of Bangladesh batting line-up. He sustained injury on his right-hand ring finger during the practice for the Asia Cup on August 25. Therefore, he couldn’t take his batting preparation properly.

But he is not remained idle to not get his UAE visa. Yesterday he batted at the BCB-National Cricket Academy (NCA) ground for a longer period.

But paceman Rubel Hossain was also not sat idle also. He poured his sweats by honing his bowling skills besides giving company to Tamim Iqbal before boarding the flight of Emirates Airlines.

In addition, Bangladesh team manager Khaled Mahmud Sujon along with BCB selection panel chairman Minhajul Abedin Nannu could not fly for Asia Cup also because of their visa complication.
