JU student sexually assaulted

A female student of physics department in Jahangirnagar University (JU) was sexually assaulted allegedly by a male student of the department. The victim submitted a complaint to JU's Anti-Sexual Harassment Cell demanding punishment of the accused student. Kishore Kumar Das, 41st batch student of physics department and a resident of Maulana Bhashani Hall of the university, forcibly took the girl to the roof of the department and assaulted her on Sunday noon.  He also threatened her when she protested, the victim alleged in the complaint.

While talking to Professor Rasheda Akhter, director of Anti-Sexual Harassment Cell, said “‘We will take action against the accused after an investigation”. When contacted, Chairman of JU physics department Professor Abdul Mannan Chowdhury, said, “The accused student is a drug addict and mentally imbalanced. I have been informed of the matter. Necessary steps will be taken against him for his misdeeds,” he added.
