7 to walk gallows 
for killing man

 A court yesterday sentenced seven people to death in a case filed in connection with murder of  businessman Milon Bhuiyan in 2011. The condemned convicts are- Razib Hossain Raju, 29, Mohammed Kayum, 32, Mohammed Razib Hossain, 29, Faruk Hossain, 32, Shafiqul Islam Parvez, 33, Ali Hossain, 34, and Mohammad Ali, 27. The court also sentenced another accused Masud, 39, to 5 years imprisonment. According to the prosecution, there was an enmity between Milon Bhuiyan, son of Habibur Rahman in Laxmipura area of Gazipur city and the convicts over money.

The convicts obstructed the motorcycle of Milon in front of Bhawal National Park at Rajendrapur on February 26 in 2011 and hacked him indiscriminately, leaving him critically injured. He was taken to a hospital where doctors declared him dead. Victim's uncle Akhter Hossain filed a case with Joydebpur Police Station on the following day. Later, Police submitted charge sheet against 10 people on June 1 in 2017. The law enforcers arrested seven of the accused from different parts of the city.

After examining all the records and witnesses, Gazipur district and sessions judge A K M Enamul Haque handed down the verdict acquitting two accused Anamul Haque  and Samsul Haque as the charges brought against them were  not proved.
