Journalism is now at crossroads

Bangladesh Press Council chairman Justice Md Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed yesterday said journalism is now at a crossroad. So, professional journalists should work together to lead journalism to play its due role to society. At the same time, he said the society should come forward to support them improve their skills and increase their financial stability. “Professional journalists should collaborate with the civil society to do better for the society”, he said while addressing a discussion titled “The Journey Towards A fair Financial Society” organised by Bangladesh Journalists’ Foundation For Consumers & Investors (BJFCI) at the National Press Club.

Presided over by BJFCI Chairman Faruk Ahmed, economic editor of the Daily Observer, the meeting was addressed, among others, by Azizul Islam Bhuiyan, editor of the daily Bangladesher Khobor, Md Saiful Alam, acting editor of the daily Jugantor, BJFCI vice-chairmen- Ataur Rahman of BSS, Syed Ali Asfar, chief sub-editor of the Financial Express, PR Biswas of daily Asian Age, Loton Ekram of daily Samokal, Helal Uddin of daily Jugantor, Main Uddin Ahmed, city editor of daily Asian Age, Kawsar Rahman of daily Janokantha, Gazi Anwar of the Daily New Nation, Khayruzzaman of daily sun, Morsalin Nomani of BSS.
