session today

The Jatiya Sangsad is set to go into its 22nd session today after a 58-day recess, reports UNB. It is likely to be the last session of the 10th parliament formed after the 2014 national election. Prior to the start of the session at 5pm, the Business Advisory Committee of Parliament will sit in a meeting with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair to fix the duration and businesses of the coming session. On August 19, President M Abdul Hamid convened the session exercising his power bestowed upon him by article 72 (1) of the Constitution. Earlier, the 21st session of current Parliament, which was also the budget session, was prorogued on July 12 last. The 10th parliament went into its maiden session on January 29, 2014.
